She Wrote the Book Other Women Weren't Given. Then the World Recognised It.

Her Portfolio Manifesto — a property wealth guide built for women who have been given the wrong advice — has been named a global finalist in its first year of entry at NGIBA.

There is a particular kind of woman this book was written for. She is capable, informed, and tired — tired of sitting in rooms where the advice being handed to her was built for someone else.

Her Portfolio Manifesto began as a direct response to that fatigue. Written by Megan Lane and published through Property Playbooks, it set out to do what most financial guides fail to: speak to women's actual circumstances, priorities, and instincts — not retrofit them into a framework designed by and for a different demographic entirely.

In its first year of entry to the Next Generation Indie Book Awards — one of the largest competitions for independently published authors globally — the book was named a finalist in the Women's Issues (Non-Fiction) category, competing against thousands of titles from around the world.

The book's central argument is not subtle: women are drowning not from lack of knowledge, but from advice calibrated to someone else's life. Risk profiles that don't reflect how women actually build wealth. Investment timelines built around assumptions that don't hold. And a persistent, corrosive undertone that when a woman's instinct diverges from the advice she's been given, the fault lies with the woman.

Lane wrote the book as an act of backing — for the woman who knew what she wanted to do and was talked out of it. The finalist result, she says, is proof the message landed exactly where it needed to.

Judges at NGIBA evaluate without context — no author backstory, no publication pedigree, no knowledge of how long something took to build. In that environment, the work either carries the room or it doesn't.

Lane is precise about what she wants this result to do. Not to mark an arrival, but to cut through the noise for every woman who has stalled — not from indecision, but from the accumulated weight of other people's doubts dressed up as advice.

"External validation has one job," she says. "It confirms you were right to back yourself. Then you go further."
